Why DevPulse monitors IntelliJ IDEA

JetBrains IDEs run on the JVM and are known for high memory consumption, especially during project indexing. The default heap size is often too low, causing GC thrashing, or too high, hoarding memory.

Quick tips to reduce IntelliJ IDEA RAM

1 Tune the JVM heap in Help → Change Memory Settings (2–4 GB is usually optimal)

2 Exclude build output and node_modules from indexing

3 Close projects you're not actively working on

4 Use IntelliJ's Memory Indicator (View → Appearance → Memory Indicator)
